Dr. Balaji Srimurugan completed his MBBS training from Fr. Muller Medical College at Mangalore in 2006. Between 2006 and 2007 he worked as a medical officer at Christian Medical College, Vellore in the Department of Accident and Emergency Medicine. He did his M.S. (General Surgery) at Goverment Medical College, Chengalpat, completing in the year 2010 and then went on to get his M.Ch-Cardiothoracic Surgery training at Govt. Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bangalore, completing in the year 2013. Following this, he worked for two years (2014-2015) in adult cardiac surgery/paediatric cardiac surgery/cardiac transplant surgery at Frontier Lifeline Hospital, Chennai under the tutelage of Prof.K.M.Cherian, the foremost pioneer of cardiac surgery in India.
Subsequently, he pursued a Fellowship exclusively in Congenital Heart Surgery at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, completing the same in 2017 before joining back at Amrita as Assistant Professor.
