Seventy screening camps across twelve states and union territories, outreach clinics closer to home, and teaching teams sent to six countries. This is where the work happens. Who funds it, and how to join them, is set out on the Partners page.

A screening camp in progress. Most children are sent home reassured; a few are found in time.

The first three paediatric cardiologists in Sri Lanka were trained here, with the Sri Lankan College of Paediatrics — the entire founding cohort for a country. Surgeons from Japan, China and Portugal have also been sent to Amrita by their own programmes for advanced training.

Over 70 outreach screening camps have been run in partnership with NGOs, foundations and corporate donors, with more than 4,500 children screened. Many went on to life-saving surgery and intervention. The camps go, deliberately, to the regions where almost no children reach an operating table.

Children have also been brought to Kochi from Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia and The Gambia for operations they could not have had at home.

Regular outreach clinics also run closer to home, in Kozhikode, Palakkad and Kollam, so that follow-up after surgery does not require a journey to Kochi.
